Come Walk in My Shoes

14568107_1328922607118110_1518863065288205386_nThe Come Walk In My Shoes project group led by Gerry Bates, represents a cluster of Catholic Parishes in Tallaght, St Kevin’s and Killian’s, St Mary’s, St Aengus’s and St Dominic’s plus St Maelruan’s Church of Ireland.

The group set out in the late summer to create an imaginative and dramatic community event that would involve their own communities engaging with the real stories of our own homeless people and refugees who are also seeking a home. The project group asked Tallaght Community Arts if we could assist them in producing the event.

During September writer and theatre director Jenny Macdonald worked with community participants to present a number of stories documenting

The High Hopes Choir, made up people who are homeless (supported by Island of Ireland Peace Choir) performed at St Maelruan’s Church of Ireland on Saturday 1 October. The Come Walk In My Shoes event was presented at St Mary’s The Priory, St Domonic’s and St Maelruan’s churches on Saturday 1 October and St Aengus’, St Kevin’s and St Killian’s churches on Sunday 2 October.
