What we say and how we say it: Verbatim performance and embodied understanding

This workshop will focus on using verbatim performance techniques to gain embodied understanding through a detailed investigation of what another person says and how they say it. Participants will learn interviewing strategies, speech scoring, gestural coding, transcript arrangement, and portrait sharing as modes of inquiry that can develop empathy. The workshop will also examine impacts and applications for individual practice. Performance experience is not required. Participants from all backgrounds and disciplines are welcome.
