As If By Chance

A live, site specific performative walkthrough the urban landscape of Tallaght that explores stories of love and intimacy.

This event has finished.

Presented by Tallaght Community Arts and Alt Ents 'As If By Chance' is an immersive, performative walk through Tallaght's urban landscape, where the audience chance upon three couples from Tallaght and witness shared moments between them.

The production features an original soundtrack by composer Robert Coleman and individual songs written by local songwriters Pius Gojo, Amy Naessens and Nick Stanley.  Our three couples, Gary McEnroe and Catherina O'Grady, Joan O'Sullivan and Pat O'Sullivan, and Michael and Patricia Toah inspired individual songs.

The performance is experienced on handheld devices such as phones or tablets, allowing audience members to become active participants.

Our performers have come through our established participant programmes that create opportunities for individuals from South Dublin County to work in collaboration with artists. Gary and Catherina from Doors To Elsewhere Drama Ensemble, Patricia and Michael from Creative Places MacUíllíam & Pat and Joan from Kingswood Community Choir have generously shared a little of their life stories with our artist team. Our aim is always to celebrate the creativity of local people in settings that are both familiar and revealing for our wider communities.

Tony Fegan, Director Tallaght Community Arts

The team behind the music have all come through youth music collectives in South Dublin County. Amy, Nick, Hugh and Rob are past participants of SubSounds, while Pius is a member of NOISE Music. One of the aims of these programmes is to prepare young artists for careers in music, and commissions of this type are invaluable to them. Collaboration is essential for the emerging artist. It broadens their creative vision and their artistic community.
