The Chronicles of Tallaght

What's the story?

'The Chronicles of Tallaght' is a large collaborative arts programme by TCA, which will celebrate the history, and examine the future of, the Tallaght area. It will be wholly focused on the local community and, beginning with the initial research and outreach phase which took place during 2025/2026, we consulted the people of Tallaght - past and present - to incorporate their stories into the project.

What will it look like?

The first iteration of the "The Chronicles of Tallaght" will be a Two-Day Time Machine Festival, taking place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October 2026. We can't reveal too many details at the moment, but we can say that it will involve an immersive tour of the Tallaght of the 1970s and 1980s!

AUDITION TEXT:
Did you see that play in the Tallaght theatre last night? Holy Jaysus I’d have had more fun watching paint dry. They were using all these aul country words and sure the accents on them, I could barely understand them half the time. Frank McGuinness it was, have ye ever heard such ponce and wonce in your whole life. Now the leading lady, she was very good I have to say, I haven’t a clue how she remembered all those lines. Even the costumes ugh she looked like she’d been dragged backwards through Blessington. I only went cause me pal was playing in it, only a small role sure she was only on stage for five minutes. Chattin to her after and I says to her “That was really… Brave of ye” Sure it was alright. She says to me "The whole community becomes a critic after these shows” but sure it was the community helped them build it so we’ll take our bricks back. Ah I’m only slagging God forgive me.  [She blesses herself]

Into the future...

Will you be part of the story?

  • If you feel you'd like to be part of this project, in whatever form it ultimately takes, we'd like to hear from you.
  • If you have stories about Tallaght you want to share, we'd like to hear from you.
  • If you love Tallaght and want to contribute your knowledge, time, or talent towards this project, we'd like to hear from you.
