Today When I Listen This is What I Hear - Symposium 2022
SoloSIRENs/TCA Symposium 2022
Trinity College Dublin, Long Room Hub
October 13, 11am-3.30pm
SoloSIRENs 2022 Symposium reflects upon the learnings from the 2021 performance/installation “Cessair” at the Civic, Tallaght. It frames the work in an exploration of arts participation, diversity and feminist aesthetics.
“Cessair” used the Irish myth of Cessair and the Zimbabwean myth of Nehanda as a container for collecting 100 audio stories from women in South Dublin County, Ireland and the world. The process and performance were documented by Dr. Courtney Helen Grile, a Long Room Hub researcher who will deliver an academic response to the work.
Hosted by the SoloSIRENs collective and the creative team of “Cessair”, the symposium will involve a mix of panel discussions, participatory practices and performances. It will connect the work of SoloSIRENs and Tallaght Community Arts to the work of other participatory practitioners and organisations.
We look forward to this opportunity to share and deepen our learning about arts participation.
If you are in Ireland and can attend we would love to welcome you.
Tickets for our symposium will go on general sale on 10th August, if you are a DTF member you can book now by contacting DTF box office @ info@dublintheatrefestival.com / ph: +353 1 677 8439.
